It is used in young piglets on farms which have been affected by the parasitic infection coccidiosis in the past to prevent diarrhoea caused by a new coccidiosis infection, to reduce spread of the infection through passage of oocysts (disease spores) in faeces, and at the same time to prevent iron deficiency anaemia due to lack of iron in the piglets’ diet. Toltrazuril is an antiparastic medicine which interferes with the enzymes needed by coccidia parasites to produce energy. As a result it is able to kill the parasites at all stages of their development and prevent the symptoms of coccidiosis and the spread of infection. The other active substance in Forceris, gleptoferron, is an iron-containing compound. Iron is an essential nutrient needed to make haemoglobin to transport oxygen in the blood, as well as certain key enzymes, and may be lacking in the diet of piglets raised under intensive farming conditions. Following injection into the muscle, gleptoferron is absorbed and broken down to release iron for use and/or storage depending on the nutritional need of the piglet. Excess iron is stored mainly in the liver.

Active ingredient: Ivermectin IVOMEC Classic Injection for Cattle and Sheep should be given only by subcutaneous injection, using aseptic precautions, at the recommended dosage level of 200 mcg ivermectin per kg bodyweight under the loose skin in front of, or behind, the shoulder in cattle and in the neck in sheep. To ensure administration of a correct dose, bodyweight should be determined as accurately as possible; accuracy of the dosing device should be checked. When treating sheep of less than 16kg, seek veterinary advice regarding the use of 1 ml disposable syringes graduated in increments of 0.1 ml. For the treatment of individual sheep, a syringe not exceeding 2.0 ml and calibrated in increments of 0.1 ml should be used. Each ml contains 10 mg of ivermectin sufficient to treat 50 kg of bodyweight of cattle and sheep. Withdrawals Cattle Meat & offal: 49 days. Milk: Do not use in cattle producing milk for human consumption. Do not use in non-lactating dairy cows including pregnant heifers within 60 days of calving. Sheep Meat & offal): 37 days. IVOMEC Injection for Pigs at the recommended dose rate of 300 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight provides effective control against the following parasites of pigs: • Gastro-intestinal roundworms (adult and fourth-stage larvae) • Lungworms • Lice • Mites • IVOMEC Injection for Pigs may also be used as an aid in control of adult whipworm (Trichuris suis). Dosage & Administration • 1 ml per 33 kg bodyweight (based on a recommended dosage rate of 300 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight). • Injected subcutaneously into the neck. • The injection may be given with any standard automatic or single-dose or hypodermic syringe. Use of 17 gauge x ½ inch needle is suggested. • Replace with a fresh sterile needle after every 10 to 12 animals. • In young pigs, especially those weighing under 16kg for which less than 0.5ml of the product is indicated, dosing accuracy is important. The use of a syringe that can accurately deliver increments of 0.1ml is recommended. • For piglets weighing less than 16kg give 0.1ml/3kg. When treating pigs of less than 16kg seek veterinary advice regarding the use of 1ml disposable syringes graduated in increments of 0.1ml. Withdrawals: Pig meat: 19 days.
